What inspectors found, February 2024

Kingarth: Rated Outstanding; inspectors found exceptionally safe, kind and personalised support, with effectiveness rated Good.

This was the first inspection after the home was re-registered as a newly registered service. Inspectors visited on 5 and 6 July 2023. One inspector and a specialist nurse advisor carried out the inspection.

Inspectors spoke with five people living at the home, two relatives and staff. They observed care, reviewed seven care plans and checked records about quality and safety. They also considered information from professionals and the local authority.

The home was rated Outstanding overall. Safe, caring, responsive and well-led were each rated Outstanding. Effective was rated Good. The report describes this as people being supported and treated with dignity and respect, and involved as partners in their care.

  • Positive risk-taking

    The home supported people to do more for themselves without unnecessary restrictions. Inspectors saw this as an exceptional area of practice.

    People were supported to make decisions, manage parts of their lives and take part in activities in the community. Staff focused on people's strengths and aspirations.
