The latest report, explained

What inspectors found, December 2023

Rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind care, but meetings with families and staff were not always held regularly.

This was an unannounced focused inspection on 13 and 14 November 2023. One inspector and one Expert by Experience spoke with people, relatives, staff and visiting professionals. They reviewed care plans, medicines records, staff recruitment files and records about how the home was managed.

The home was rated Good overall. Safe and well-led were both rated Good. Inspectors found enough staff, safe medicines practice, suitable safeguarding arrangements, good infection control and effective checks on risks and the building.

People and relatives spoke positively about the staff. Inspectors saw kind and respectful care, and found a positive culture. However, meetings involving people, relatives and staff were sometimes held only when needed rather than on a regular schedule. The CQC made a recommendation about this.

This inspection only assessed Safe and Well-led. The other three question ratings were not reviewed and the overall Good rating was calculated using the previous ratings. The overall rating stayed Good, and Well-led improved from Requires Improvement at the last inspection.

What inspectors were concerned about
  • Meetings were not regular

    needs fixing

Meetings for staff, relatives and management were sometimes arranged on an ad hoc basis. The CQC recommended that meetings should be scheduled more reliably and held promptly.

However, these meetings were not always scheduled and were at times, completed on an 'ad hoc' basis.from the report

Or stay at home with a private carer

Many people who look at care homes end up staying at home with a carer who comes in for a few hours a day, or lives in. PrimeCarers introduces you to self-employed carers you choose yourself: interviewed, ID and DBS checked, from about £20 an hour or £1,120 a week live-in.
