The latest report, explained

What inspectors found, October 2023

Requires Improvement; inspectors found unsafe medicines and risk management, although staff were kind and responsive.

This was an unannounced focused inspection on 17 and 18 August 2023. Inspectors looked only at Safe and Well-led. They spoke with people, relatives, staff and health and social care professionals, and checked medicines, records, staffing and quality checks.

The home was not always safe. Medicines were not always given as prescribed, instructions were sometimes incomplete, and risk assessments did not always contain enough information. Some incidents were not investigated promptly and seven historic safeguarding concerns had not been reported to the relevant agencies as required.

The home was also not consistently well-led. Quality checks had missed important problems with medicines, assessments and risk plans. There were positive findings too, including kind care, activities, effective staff deployment and suitable infection control arrangements.

The overall rating changed from Good at the previous inspection in 2019 to Requires Improvement. The provider must send an action plan, and the CQC will monitor progress with the provider and local authority.
