What inspectors found, September 2023

Blossom House Residential Home is Rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, with significant improvements since the last inspection.

Inspectors visited without warning on 27 July 2023. They spoke with 12 people living at the home, 8 relatives and 10 staff. They observed care and checked care records, medicines records, recruitment files, risk assessments, training and quality checks.

All five areas were rated Good: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. Inspectors found enough staff, safe medicines systems, good infection control and staff who understood safeguarding. People had personalised care plans, support with food and drink, access to healthcare and help to make choices.

Inspectors found staff were kind and respectful. People were supported to maintain their independence, relationships and interests. Activities were available, and the home supported people with individual ambitions and end of life wishes.

The last rating was Requires Improvement, published in May 2020, with breaches of regulations. Inspectors found significant improvements and said the home was no longer in breach. The overall rating changed to Good.
