What inspectors found, January 2024

Rated Requires Improvement; inspectors found safe care and leadership issues, but effective, caring and responsive support.

Inspectors visited Vine House unannounced over two days in December 2023. They spoke with people living there, relatives, and staff, and reviewed records and the building.

They found medicines were not always managed safely, and some health and safety risks were not properly assessed or controlled. Communal areas were sometimes left unattended, and one staff member lacked references.

People felt safe and well cared for by kind and knowledgeable staff. Care was effective, with good support for health and decision-making. People were involved in their care and treated with respect.

Activities were limited, and some staff said there was not always time for meaningful engagement. Governance systems were in place but did not always identify or fix problems. The provider is working to improve these areas.
