CQC report explained · a nursing home, run by Stoneyford Sc
Stoneyford Care Home
Stoneyford Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, NG17 2DR
Rated Good: inspectors found the service performing well and meeting their expectations.
What inspectors found, April 2024
Rated Inadequate; inspectors found unsafe care, staff shortages, poor management, and unaddressed complaints putting people at risk.
Inspectors visited Stoneyford Care Home in late 2023 after concerns about staffing and care quality. They spoke with people living there, relatives, staff, and health professionals. They reviewed care records, medicines, and the environment.
They found serious problems with safety. There were not enough trained staff to meet people's needs. Call bells often went unanswered for over an hour. Care plans were not personalised or up to date. Medicines were not always given safely or on time. Infection control was poor, with dirty equipment and furniture.
People and relatives said they did not feel safe. Complaints were raised but not properly investigated or responded to. Staff felt unable to speak up due to a blame culture. Leadership was weak with poor oversight and communication. These failings meant people were at risk of harm.
The home had recently been refurbished, which people and staff liked, but this did not make up for the serious care and safety issues. The overall rating dropped from Good in 2020 to Inadequate now, and the home is in special measures.

Or stay at home with a private carer
Many people who look at care homes end up staying at home with a carer who comes in for a few hours a day, or lives in. PrimeCarers introduces you to self-employed carers you choose yourself: interviewed, ID and DBS checked, from about £20 an hour or £1,120 a week live-in.
