What inspectors found, January 2024
OSJCT Southfield House is rated Good; inspectors found safe staffing, medicines management and positive leadership.
This was an unannounced, focused inspection on 6 December 2023. One inspector and an Expert by Experience spoke with people living at the home, relatives and staff. They observed care and checked care records, medicines records, recruitment files and management records.
The home was rated Good for Safe and Well-led. Inspectors found enough staff, safe recruitment, appropriate risk assessments, safely managed medicines and good infection control. They also found systems for reviewing incidents and making improvements.
The overall rating stayed Good, the same as at the previous inspection published in October 2017. This inspection only looked at Safe and Well-led. The other three areas used their previous ratings when calculating the overall rating.
Safe staffing and recruitment
The home had calculated staffing needs and inspectors found staff available to support people. Recruitment checks were completed to help ensure staff were suitable to work there.

Medicines
Inspectors found that people received medicines as prescribed. Staff were trained and had their medicines practice checked.

Clean and safe environment
The home was clean and tidy, and staff used protective equipment in line with guidance to reduce infection risks.

People and relatives described the home as comfortable and welcoming. Relatives were included in activities and events.
