What inspectors found, February 2024

Abbendon Nursing Home is rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care across all five areas.

Inspectors visited on 17 and 23 January 2024. The first visit was unannounced and the second was announced. They spoke with people, relatives and staff, observed care, and checked care, medicines, staff and management records.

They found a calm home where people felt safe. Medicines were managed safely, staffing levels were suitable, and staff were trained and recruited safely. People were treated with kindness and respect, and relatives spoke positively about the care.

People had personalised care plans, suitable food and support with health needs. They could join activities and keep in touch with relatives. The complaints process was clear, and the manager was described as approachable. All five areas were rated Good.
